Improve roads leading to the beach by elevating the east end with fill dirt to help alleviate tidal flooding. Repave, add curbs and sidewalks. Prioritize Stewart Place, Bushick Place, Breaker Ave, and S Hotel Place. Consider using concrete (rather than asphalt) because they can be flooded for extended periods.
NBCA asks the city to unite North Beach stakeholders into one official group that discusses and develops ideas for improvements on North Beach. Made up of representatives from the attractions, businesses and residents of North Beach, this official city committee will form a consensus and bring its recommendations to the city to shape the future of North Beach.

Work with NBCA’s History Committee to design and build an Entryway Sign and a row of bollards on the street side of the History Plaza to define the plaza boundaries and help draw visitors in. Add canvas shade covering (similar to Surfside Park’s) over the existing 16 educational panels to create minimal shade for visitors as they walk through the plaza and sit on the benches. Rebuild the historic Breakwater Walk sign.
NBCA supports construction of breakwaters in the bay off the shore of North Beach to lessen beach erosion, protect shoreline properties, create wildlife habitat, and enhance tourism opportunities.
NBCA encourages the city to dedicate a police officer to North Beach to ensure public safety. Building a police/fire substation on North Beach could shorten response times for first responders and provide volunteer opportunities for residents.
a) Fix the broken section of Beachwalk near Surfside Park.
b) Remove rebar and riprap from near the shore at Surfside Park.
c) Add benches to the Beachwalk where there aren’t any.
d) Add palm trees to the higher areas of the beach that don’t get inundated with standing salt water.
